Lead Gynae Oncology Nurse Specialist

Sarah Burton has worked in the area of oncology for over 17 years with specific interest and expertise in ovarian cancer. She works with the Welsh Assembly Government and the National Institute for Clinical Excellence setting standards of care for Women in Wales with Gynaecological Cancers. As Head of Nursing for Cancer Care Cymru she is responsible for service development and expansion of the specialist nursing team.
Sarah has a national profile as a resource for health professionals on gynaecological issues, has lectured throughout the UK and has represented Welsh cancer nurses at international conferences. Sarah currently works in Velindre Cancer Centre and Llandough Hospital.  At Velindre she runs her own nurse led chemotherapy clinic and is a supplementary prescriber.
