What we do

We provide specialist care, information and support to people in Wales affected by cancer. We do this by funding specialist staff to work in hospitals throughout Wales providing cancer services

Our prime aim is to fund Specialist Staff and in particular Specialist Oncology Nurses to work in partnership with our NHS colleagues in support of specialist surgeons and other oncology professionals. We are involved from the point of diagnosis all the way through the treatment process and our independence allows us the freedom and time to provide improved levels of patient care.

Our mission:

  • To work in partnership with the NHS and other organisations to help meet the needs of people in Wales affected by cancer and their families.
  • To develop specialist cancer nursing services that provide support and information for the people of Wales.
  • To work in partnership with our NHS partners and others to provide education and training for doctors, nurses and other staff who deliver cancer care throughout Wales.

We also work closely with patients and their families, to identify what other essential cancer related services are needed.  For example counselling and welfare rights.

Cancer Care Cymru has recently appointed their first Welfare Rights Officer.
